welcome to goldwater's
Goldwater’s was founded in 1989 by sisters Joanne and Peggy Goldwater along with Joanne’s daughter Carolyn Ross. Third and fourth generation Arizonans with a long history in the state, the women knew a line of gourmet, natural specialty products with the family name would be well received and they were right!
Goldwater’s uses family recipes that were used in their catering company as well as their father and grandfather Barry Goldwater’s recipe for chili. The Senator’s Chili Mix was introduced in Phoenix with the Senator and has been a big seller ever since.
Goldwater’s also was the first fruit salsa in a retail package launched in 1990. The award-winning Paradise Pineapple Salsa is still the company’s number one seller and has inspired 3 other fruit salsas
in the line – Raspberry, Peach, and Mango. Rounding out the salsa line are the savory salsas: Rio Verde Tomatillo, Sedona Red, Cochise Corn & Black Bean, and the spiciest Sedona Red Hot Salsa.
Goldwater’s also has a wonderful line of Jellies and Hot Sauces as well as the spicy Bisbee Barbeque Sauce with Chipotle. All the names of the products are from places in Arizona and the labels are depicting kachina dolls that represent the collection of dolls that Senator Goldwater donated to the Heard Museum.
History of the goldwater name
The Goldwater name is synonymous with the Southwest with a rich history dating back to the mid 1800’s where the Goldwater family opened up their mercantile store in Northern Arizona, which eventually turned into Goldwater’s Department Stores, it’s in the blood and the tradition has continued…..
Goldwater’s was founded over 20-years ago by Carolyn Ross, Joanne Goldwater, and Peggy Goldwater-Clay; the daughters and granddaughter of former late Senator Barry Goldwater. With the background of Joanne’s catering business, Peggy’s former food line, and Carolyn’s entrepreneurial and business expertise, the company has sustained a successful business for over two decades. Known for its traditional salsa, the company has also developed ground-breaking and award-winning, fruit salsas, dips, and other specialty food products.
Goldwater's Department Store
Goldwater’s originated the “Fruit Salsas” with the award winning Paradise Pineapple Salsa under Goldwater’s Taste of the Southwest label. Due to the overwhelming success and popularity of this ground-breaking salsa, three other fruit salsas were inspired and added to the line. A collection of Goldwater family recipes has been captured in four traditional salsas, including the Sedona Red Salsa; deemed “excellent” by The New York Times.
